Itinerary

Day 1 – Thursday, February 18, 2027
Arrival in Ushuaia, Argentina

Welcome to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world and the gateway to Antarctica.

Enjoy free time to explore this vibrant port city. Optional visits include the Museo del Fin del Mundo (End of the World Museum), which showcases local history and wildlife. Nature enthusiasts may enjoy hiking in Tierra del Fuego National Park or wildlife viewing along the Beagle Channel.

Overnight: Ushuaia

Day 2 – Friday, February 19, 2027
Embarkation Day

After breakfast, enjoy additional free time in Ushuaia. Stroll along the waterfront, admire the snow-capped Martial Range—the southernmost peaks of the Andes—or shop for last-minute souvenirs and cold-weather gear.

Included onboard equipment:

  • Complimentary expedition parka (yours to keep)
  • Waterproof rubber boots on loan throughout the voyage

In the afternoon, transfer to the pier and board the luxury expedition vessel M/V Sea Spirit. Settle into your suite and meet the expedition team.

After dinner, head to the open decks to enjoy the beautiful scenery as the ship sails through the Beagle Channel.

Days 3–4 – Saturday–Sunday, February 20–21, 2027
Crossing the Drake Passage

After passing Tierra del Fuego, we head south across the legendary Drake Passage.

Highlights include:

  • Humpback and fin whale sightings
  • Wandering albatrosses and numerous seabirds
  • Crossing the Antarctic Convergence, the biological boundary of the Southern Ocean

The ship’s stabilizers help ensure a comfortable voyage even in challenging conditions.

During these days, expedition staff will conduct safety briefings and educational lectures in preparation for our arrival in Antarctica.

Arrival at the South Shetland Islands is expected on the evening of the second day at sea.

Days 5–9 – Monday–Friday, February 22–26, 2027
South Shetland Islands & Antarctic Peninsula

Over the next five days, we explore some of Antarctica’s most spectacular landscapes and wildlife habitats.

Expect:

  • Snow-covered mountain peaks
  • Massive glaciers
  • Ice-filled bays and channels
  • Abundant marine life
  • Active penguin colonies
  • International Antarctic research stations

South Shetland Islands
Our first exploration area is the northernmost island group of Antarctica. These rugged islands feature historic landing sites and abundant wildlife.

Antarctic Peninsula
We continue into the breathtaking Gerlache Strait region, home to pristine white landscapes, enormous glaciers, marine mammals, and thriving penguin colonies.

Weather and ice permitting, we hope to transit the famous Lemaire Channel, often called the “Kodak Gap” because of its extraordinary photographic beauty.

  • Adélie Penguins
  • Seals
  • Whales
  • Numerous seabird species

Optional Activities
Guided hikes to scenic viewpoints

  • Kayaking among icebergs, seals, and penguins

This is a true expedition voyage. The exact itinerary and landing sites depend on weather and ice conditions. The captain and expedition leader will continuously adjust plans to maximize opportunities and safety.

Days 10–11 – Saturday–Sunday, February 27–28, 2027
Return Across the Drake Passage

We begin our return voyage toward South America.

Highlights may include:

  • Additional whale sightings
  • Following seabirds
  • Farewell events onboard
  • Captain’s farewell cocktail
  • Expedition recap presentation

As we re-enter the calm waters of the Beagle Channel, enjoy a peaceful conclusion to the voyage.

Day 12 – Monday, March 1, 2027
End of Expedition

After breakfast, disembark in Ushuaia.

Group transfers will be provided either to:

  • Ushuaia Airport
  • Ushuaia city center

Important Flight Information

Disembarkation typically takes place between 08:00–09:00 AM.

Recommended departure flight: 12:00 PM or later.

Payment Policy

Deposit & Installments

  • 20% deposit upon registration
  • 50% of total cost due by June 1, 2026
  • Full payment due by September 1, 2026

Payment may be made by credit card and split into up to 10 interest-free installments.

Cancellation Policy

  • Until May 1, 2026: Full refund
  • May 2 – July 1, 2026: 80% refund
  • July 2 – September 1, 2026: 50% refund
  • From September 2, 2026 onward: No refund

Travel insurance covering cancellation is strongly recommended.

Participants are responsible for obtaining comprehensive travel and medical insurance, including:

  • Medical evacuation
  • Adventure activity coverage
  • Trip cancellation coverage

Participants are responsible for:

  • Required vaccinations and medications
  • Entry requirements and travel documentation
  • Compliance with customs and import regulations

Expedition Risks

As with any expedition to remote destinations, risks may include:

  • Severe weather
  • Rough seas
  • Ice and snow conditions
  • Remote locations with limited medical facilities
  • Wildlife encounters
  • Transportation and logistical challenges
  • Unpredictable environmental conditions

By joining the expedition, participants acknowledge these risks and confirm that they are physically and mentally fit to participate.

Changes & Force Majeure

PhotoTeva reserves the right to modify itineraries, schedules, guides, or services due to circumstances beyond its control, including weather, technical issues, border closures, port restrictions, or force majeure events.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

The expedition is subject to minimum participant numbers and may be cancelled with a full refund if necessary.
