Travel Days – Sunday-Monday-, 28-29 January 2018

Lehitraot Tel Aviv. Board your flight at 12:45 in the afternoon on Sunday January 28th, and arrive in Hong Kong at 05:15 in the morning on Monday January 29th. Transfer to hotel for a well needed rest in a comfortable hotel bed, enjoy a walking tour (optional) and a kosher meal at Chabad Hong Kong. Return to airport for our 3:45 afternoon flight to Auckland, arriving Tuesday January 30th.


Day 1 – Tuesday, 30 January 2018

Upon arrival in Auckland, our coach will meet us and we will travel south to Rotorua.

maoriFamed for its geothermal activity, a visit to Rotorua is a unique and essential component of your New Zealand experience. Steeped in Maori history and culture, picturesque Rotorua offers something for everyone. Boiling mud and vents of steam show a glimpse of what lies beneath the earth’s crust, with the world famous Pohutu Geyser spouting steam 30 meter high! Whakarewarewa Thermal Village is where

Maori culture and history is detailed through song, dance and story telling.

We begin our Rotorua visit at the Agrodome – as welcome to the land of the sheep – here we will have sheep shearing demonstration and ‘meet’ all the sheep types of NZ. Check in to our hotel, rest and dinner. Following dinner we will be able to immerse ourselves in the Polynesian hot pools overlooking Lake Rotorua – which is right across from the hotel. Towels and toiletry are provided.

Day 2 – Wednesday, 31 January 2018

Today features volcanoes, geysers, thermal baths and more. We start the day with a visit to Wai-O-Tapu, a wonderland of Wai-O-Tapugeothermal activity which can be viewed from very well maintained walking paths. Driving on to Waimangu Volcanic Valley, where we’ll take a walk through the youngest volcanic valley in the world, formed in 1886 as a result of the eruption of Mt Tarawera.  It’s time for some local culture! Continue to Wakarewarewa, the living Maori village,  Te Puia and Maori cultural center, in order to understand the culture of these indigenous peoples. The village is also home to the tallest geyser in the world, the Pohuto, which we will watch in awe. We finish our adventure with ancient Māori cooking techniques and witness geothermal cuisine up close at Ngararatuatara – the natural cooking pool (kosher!). We will also enjoy an authentic Maori cultural performance – Te Ra and Te Po.ming river, bubbling geysers, colorful mineral lakes and down to a crater lake.

tongariroDay 3 – Thursday, 01 February 2018

Covering almost 80,000 hectares and created in 1887, Tongariro is New Zealand’s first national park and the first to be gifted by a country’s indigenous people, Tuwharetoa. The three volcanic peaks are Mount Tongariro, Mount Ngauruhoe and Mt Ruapehu, the latter being recently active. Mt Ruapehu also features the North Islands only public ski fields, Whakapapa and Turoa.

Today we will enter the heart of the volcanic region – featuring 3 active volcanoes and a myriad of Maori religious sites. The highlight of our day is the epic flight over the volcanoes!

WAITOMO glowworm cavesDay 4 – Friday, 02 February 2018

Our morning starts with a drive to Waitomo Glowworm Cave which is considered one of the highlights of the area. We will enjoy a boat ride in this underground wonder illuminated by thousands of glowworms.

After our exciting visit, we return to Auckland. This cosmopolitan city spreads across a dynamic volcanic landscape and offers an abundance of activities, whether it be on land or sea.

Check into hotel to prepare for Shabbat.

Day 5 – Saturday, 03 February 2018

Have Tefillah and Shabbat lunch with the community. Enjoy a relaxing Shabbat and a walking tour of our area in the afternoon. Return for seudah shlishit.

Day 6 – Sunday, 04 February 2018

We begin our morning with a visit to the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of New Zealand’s most important museums and war memorials whose collections concentrate on New Zealand history, natural history, as well as military history.Matiatia-closeup

In the afternoon, enjoy a ferry ride past Rangitoto and other harbor islands, where we view the volcanic scenery from up close. Our ferry ride continues to Waiheke Island where we will board a bus to tour the island, including its beautiful beaches, vineyards, and quaint towns. Return via ferry to Auckland.

nelsonDay 7 – Monday, 05 February 2018

Bid farewell to Auckland and fly to Nelson. Nelson is the sunniest city in New Zealand. Its diverse geography offers everything from long golden beaches to untouched forests and rugged mountains.

Our first stop is the Goose Bay Kosher Winery for a kosher wine tasting. Then continue to the famous World of Wearable Art gallery and classic car collection.

Day 8 – Tuesday, 06 February 2018

Abel Tasman is New Zealand’s only coastal National Park and is acclaimed for its secluded golden beaches, sparkling turquoise waters and lush subtropical forests. We will enjoy a relaxing and comfortable cruise on the crystal-clear water followed by a gentle hike over easy terrain. Stunning secluded bays, magnificent limestone cliffs and often even the occasional seal are revealed.

Day 9 – Wednesday, 07 February 2018blue lake national park

Drive through Nelson Lakes National Park, an enchanting alpine landscape of rugged peaks, forests and stunning glacial lakes, and home to the beginning of the Southern Alps. We’ll visit Buller Gorge and the longest swing bridge in New Zealand (360 feet long).. Drive through spectacular coast line and Paparoa National park – where we will gaze in wonder at the Punakaiki pancake rocks and blowholes, where columns of water shoot skyward from rocks that resemble giant stacks of hotcakes!

Day 10 – Thursday, 08 February 2018

Franz_Josef_glacierFranz Josef Glacier, one of the two glaciers situated on the West Coast of the South Island, offers a breathtaking and unique opportunity to come face to face with an ancient glacier as it descends from the Southern Alps through temperate rainforest down to the rugged West Coast. The relatively easy access to Franz Josef Glacier enables even the less adventurous of those to enjoy a walk to the terminal face. Driving south along the west coast, including a short hike through Hokitika canyon, provides excellent views of the area. We continue to a second highlight of the trip, the “Franz Josef” Glacier, considered the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand! Our time with the Glacier begins with a short flight over it as well as a walk on the glacier. This will surely be one of the more memorable parts of the trip!

queenstownDay 11 – Friday, 09 February 2018

Drive south on the rugged West Coast road, past the glacier district, cross through the mountainous Haast Pass, through Lake Wanaka and onto Queenstown.

It would be hard to find a destination more picturesque than breathtaking Queenstown. Situated on the edge of Lake Wakatipu and cradled beneath the awe inspiring ‘Remarkables’ Mountain range. It is known as the Adventure Capital of New Zealand and once you are there, you will know why.

Day 13 – Sunday, 11 February 2018

We depart early morning to the Fiordland National Park to one of the most beautiful fiords in the world: Milford Sound. We’ll enjoy a boat cruise through the fiord surrounded by breathtaking 1600m high glaciers and waterfalls.

Start the day exploring the “tourist capital” of New Zealand, including its historic landmarks and buildings. Board the skyline gondola, for amazing and stomach turning views of the city. Continue to Arrowtown – a historic gold-mining town with a rich history and tour the old streets to learn about New Zealand’s colonial history.

dunedinDay 15 – Tuesday, 13 February 2018

Drive to Dunedin, the most southern Jewish community in the world. Visit the old synagogue and Olvestone Historic Home. Then we will drive to the Otago peninsula where we will have a jeep tour to the wildlife area and the Albatross center.

Drive to Christchurch. On the way we will stop at Moeraki boulders, one of the most fascinating and popular attractions on the South Island. Stop at Oamaru, home of the Blue Penguin. Upon arrival enjoy an authentic Edwardian punt ride on the Avon River. Kosher catered dinner at the hotel.

Day 17 – Thursday, 15 February 2018

Little Blue PenguinsBefore we bid farewell to Christchurch, we visit the International Antarctic Center, to learn about life in modern-day Antarctica and Scott Base, plus hang out with Little Blue Penguins!  Continue the day with a stroll around the renowned Botanical Gardens for which Christchurch is famous.

Afternoon flight to Sydney.

Upon arrival enjoy a panoramic introductory drive.

Circular QuayDay 18 – Friday, 16 February 2018

Enjoy a full-day touring of Sydney’s highlights. We start with a tour around the picturesque Eastern Bays, before we head to Circular Quay – the heart of Sydney. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens to Mrs. McQuarie’s Chair – the ‘million dollar view.’ Drive over Sydney’s Harbor Bridge to Milson’s Point and from here we continue to the Rocks historical area. Here we have time to stroll along beautiful Circular Quay to the Opera House. In the late afternoon we catch a ferry ride from Circular Quay to Rose Bay; the coach will meet us here to transfer to the hotel.

Return to hotel to prepare for Shabbat. Walk to the local synagogue, for Tefillah and Shabbat dinner.

Enjoy Shabbat in Sydney. Morning Tefilah and Shabbat meal with the local Chabad. In the afternoon enjoy a walking tour.

In the evening, we drive to Circular Quay to experience Sydney Harbor at night.

07:30am depart for the Blue Mountains. Once there we will visit Featherdale Wildlife reserve, home to all Australia’s wildlife, where you can get up close and personal with the animals. You will also get to experience all the Sky rides in the valley: the SKYWAY – float above the valley across the mountains; the CABLEWAY – the steepest cableway in the southern hemisphere taking you to the belly of the valley; the WALKWAY- a path through a Jurassic rain-forest.

Day 22 – Tuesday, 20 February 2018

After breakfast we make our way to the pier to board our catamaran for our exciting day sail to the Great Barrier Reef. This is a full-day tour, and inGreat_Barrier_Reefcludes kosher morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. The tour offers an underwater viewing platform and underwater observatory. If you like, make use of the snorkels on board, allowing you to marvel at the underwater wonderland.

Day 23 – Wednesday, 21 February 2018

Daintree RiverEnjoy a full day to the Cape Tribulation and the Daintree National Park – a world heritage park. First stop is the Mossman Gorge – morning tea stop. Cross the Daintree River by Cable Ferry, travel to Cow Bay Beach – this is where the Reef meets the Rainforest – where two World Heritage Parks meet! – it is a spectacular sight. Easy walk leads you from the bus to the beach.

Proceed to Daintree Discovery Center – to delve into information about the region. From here we are off to the highlight of the day – Crocodile Cruise!!

Day 24 – Thursday, 22 February 2018

koalaMorning flight to Melbourne. Depart on an introduction panoramic drive of Melbourne to St Kilda. After check-in to our hotel, and early catered dinner, depart at 5pm for Phillip island – to view the penguin parade, as they march from the ocean to shore at sunset. We are expected back in town at midnight, and we take a packed dinner sandwich with us.

Day 25 – Friday, 23 February 2018

melbourneMelbourne is considered the cultural and sporting capital of Australia and prides itself on its vibrant arts scene, impressive galleries and a wide range of museums, cafes, markets and artisans spread throughout the city’s streets and laneways. There is a new discovery around every corner.

We start our day of touring in Melbourne, including the Royal Botanic Gardens and The Shrine, Federation Square, Art Street, Parliament buildings, the Yarra River and the Jewish Museum. Return to hotel to prepare for Shabbat.

Day 27 – Sunday, 25 February 2018

MELBOURNE - GREAT OCEAN ROADToday is a full-day tour of the Great Ocean Road (GOR). Winding through varying terrain along the coast and providing access to several prominent landmarks, including the Twelve Apostles limestone stack formations, the road is an important tourist attraction in the region. Built by returned soldiers between 1919 and 1932 and dedicated to soldiers killed during World War I, the road is the world’s largest war memorial. The GOR allows the opportunity to get up close to native wildlife, see koalas, emus and kangaroos at Tower Hill, explore surf towns and inspiring seaside villages, and enjoy pristine rainforest and misty waterfalls as you travel.

Spend our last day in Australia with some free time in the center of town. Transfer to the airport mid day, for our flight home which departs at 15:25. Fly to TLV via Hong Kong, to arrive in Israel on February 27th at 07:00
